Hampshire Law Society - Mediation Services

What is Mediation?

Mediation offers both parties in a dispute the opportunity of putting forward their point of view in a non-confrontational atmosphere.

The mediator is totally impartial. He or she is there to assist the parties to arrive at a sensible solution to their problems that is mutually acceptable to both of them.

A mediated agreement has the advantage that it is arrived at direct between the parties. This means that both parties will know what the eventual agreement/court order will be.

This takes the uncertainty out of the proceedings and avoids the possibility of expensive litigation that may result in an order that neither party wants.

Mediation can be used in all aspects of family law, including finance, property and all applications involving children including residence and contact.
