Could you be a mentor to an aspiring lawyer?
Are you interested in helping local students achieve their potential?
The School of Law Mentoring Scheme is an opportunity for law undergraduate and postgraduate students to network with legal professionals in order to find out more about the recruitment process learn from their experiences and receive feedback on CVs, etc. We match students and mentors in pairs (as far as possible) according to the expertise of the practitioner and aspirations/interests of the student for one academic year. We expect students and mentors to meet up at least twice during the academic year to discuss the student's progress but it is not intended that the scheme should be an onerous commitment for mentors. We therefore leave it to mentors and students to arrange further contact at mutually convenient times throughout the year, either by telephone, email or face-to face. There is no obligation to provide work experience - we leave this entirely to the discretion of the mentor.
